pc to mac firewiretransfer

I'm trying to transfer my mp3 library from my windows 2000 laptop to my new powerbook G4. I'm using a firewire connection from the mac to the pc so as to have the mac HD appear on the pc screen but the pc won't recognize the drive at all. I'm using a 6 pin to a 4 pin, mac to pc (sony) connection. My ipod is recognized easily as a drive by the pc using firewire, by the way. Thanks Don

I don't think you can do it this way. Because the PC isn't seen as just a HDD, it's a PC, another computer. That's a lot different than the iPod which is seen as just another HDD.

You need to set up a network. Since the firewire can be configured as a network adaptor this should be possible..but I don't know how to do it on a Mac.

I've once seen that app Apple (I think) release to put a network over FW... but I think it was just between Macs... I know Macs can be used as FireWire external HD by booting with the letter "F" (I think). Dunno if you could do the same with the PC. I dunno much about PCs...

Edit: the letter is T I think
