Are there any retail stores that have discounts on the 3G iPODS? I'm in the U.S.

I don't think there are. Apple has price control over its products being sold in its resellers. The largest discount you'll see is around five dollars. Instead, look for deals on the web, especially on Dell's website.ZoidbergD at 2007-11-15 14:15:29 >

I haven't checked the Best Buy website, but look at the exception list (there's always an exceptions list...). I'd bet the Ipod is on it.I received a mailer from best buy on Tuesday talking about their great 10% off sale. Ipods were excluded.
It doesn't mean that you can't get a good price at Best Buy. Just use their price matching offer. Target.com was having a 10%off sale on ipods online about a month ago. I took the web printout to best buy and saved $45 on a 15Gb ipod. Depending on who you talk to, they may give you a hard time about matching a web discount but usually give in. I've found it helps to mention that you were thinking about using the savings to purchase their extended warranty. That usually sways them. Once you get to the register with the price correction sheet you can always decline the warranty.

I bought my 30Gb Ipod at Best Buy at a Grand Opening Sale (86th and Lex). They gave me the 10% off. Too bad they didnt have any 15gb ones.Lou

Dell doesn't list them on their website but they DO sell them and frequently have stackable coupons.I paid $411 shipped for my 30GB about a month ago from dell.com. 10% off coupon with free shipping and another coupon for $40 off $400.
