UK Stock Of iPods
Hi all,
I've been looking for the 15Gb iPod here in the UK, but nowhere has them in stock!
Anyone know where to get one from/when they'll be in stock?
(Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place, or if its been discussed before, I did have a good look round first)

Hello
Order one from the Apple website, I got mine within a week.
Otherwise Goodluck trying to find one elsewere.
# 2 Re: UK Stock Of iPods
I thought of doing that until I read that delivery will be 2-3 weeks.
How long ago was this when you bought one?

I ordered my 15gb on 30/7/03 and it's still "being assembled." As if they actually assemble each one individually to order! Or perhaps that's why they cost so much...

Hi bluejameso,
It's weird that you ordered on the 30th July and its in assmebly stage. I too ordered a 15gb, but ordered mine on the 31st July and it was shipped the next day.

Hmmm. I ordered a 15Gb on 17th July and it's still in the Being Assembled stage. The nice man at apple store has just told me that the shipping notice was raised today and "all things going well" I should have it by the end of next week. Not holding my breath though.

Heres the tale of how I bought mine, i originally posted it on another site but it deserves another airing here. The moral of the tale being don't give up, you'll find on in the end!
I've been sitting on my hands waiting for a PC version since the very first pods came out and finally decided to buy one a few weeks ago.
Having made the decision I was then disapointed to find that the whole country has sold out and apple can't make them fast enough. I phoned around every retailer I could think of in London and basically was laughed at as it seems to be a standing joke in the retail trade at the moment that you can't get hold of them.
As a last resort I headed to Totty Court road not expecting to have any more luck but thinking I could console myself with some other hardware and having visited 6 or 7 stores had basically given up when I stumbled into one place and couldn't believe my eyes to see 3 spanking new ipods still in their brown delivery boxes sitting on a shelf. They had names written on them so I assumed that they must have been preordered and reserved. I thought I would try my luck anyway and fortunately for me the one guy serving was also in charge of upgrades for macs and was busy taking details from a girl on how much more memory she wanted etc etc and gettign a bit stressed out. Anyway he asked me if I was there for the IPOD and had I phoned earlier to which I replied yup that was me and mumbled something about preorder and he gave me one! OK not exactly gave as it cost me 400 quid but I have never left a store so quick in my life. Some poor sod somewhere has probably been waiting a month for his IPOD and now its mine muhahahahahahahahhhhaaaaaaaaa!

loGan,
I am astonished that anyone should portray themselves as such a devious, mean-spirited, selfish little sod as you seem to be doing, and that you seem to think it's now clever to boast about such dishonest, mean and underhand behaviour. Perhaps you don't mean it that way, but that's the impression I'm getting.
It makes me heartily sick that so many people have this "Screw you as long as I get what I want" attitude, and the last thing I want is to see it pervading into the iPod community. It's not clever, and it's not funny, and I really, sincerely, hope that if you really did as you claim that your new Pod is stolen or lost, and that your insurance doesn't cover it.
Let's hope that what goes around comes around in cases like this
Apologies if I'm coming over all 'intemperate' but this kind of behaviour should not be condoned, even by silence.

Well said Jacko.
loGan, that's deplorable. And I tend to agree with Jacko. You might not want to hang out here that much. I doubt you'll find the welcome mat out for you.

Oh get down off your high horses, really.
I wasn't boasting about anything, just illustrating how hard it is to find an Ipod in this country at the moment and the lengths that some poeple will go to get one.
