My original 5GB iPod was hit pretty hard once. The was a pretty big dent on the stainless steel back of the iPod. My 10GB 2G iPod took a few falls in its case, that's all. They would all still work perfectly. Nothing has happened to my 15GB iPod...yet.

my ipod has seen a few drops. it always happens that i brush past something unmovable, and the ipod's standard case belt clip would snap and my ipod would hit the ground. hit hard enough once to bend/buldge the metal back, so my ipod's front wiggles around a bit. broke a bit off the head phone jack.

what's really sad is that i've been trying to be careful with it. :P

it's got a few scratches that's for sure.

i no longer use the standard case. four of them were enough to make me realize the standard case STINKS. i use a neoprene one by DLO now. hasn't broken once and i can access everything without having to remove my ipod.

the ipod is great and all, but a better, more scratch resistant case is VERY needed.

i'm holding on to my 20 until that day.

Mine has not fallen yet and a new Vaja case is arriving tomorrow (enroute from Dubai!)...so its well protected.

I have dropped my iPod (not in case). It has sustained some scratches (good thing I use tape to protect screen/chrome) and works great. iPod is fairly durable.
