iPod Autopsy (w/photos available)
a customer brought their iPod in to work today to get a replacement. the iPod was in 3 pieces... :(
(WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART)
i stared in horror as a cradled the poor little iPod in my hand. the front and back had been split apart and the hard drive had popped out. i fiddled with the components with a gruesome fascination... now i've finally seen the internal organs of an iPod up close.
cause of death? it fell while the user was riding a bicycle.
i decided to grab a sony dsc-p10 camera off display and take a few photos, mostly personal reference, but i thought someone here might want them, or might want to post them on here for all users to see. they are 5 megapixel pictures, although they don't look that great because lighting was less than ideal, and i should have put the camera on macro mode. duh.
if anyone wants them, let me know. if enough people want them, if a user could post them up here, that would be cool too (i have no idea how).
if this is all been said and done before, then carry on as usual. :)

ok, moving shadow, i sent them to you. i compressed them a bit, so it's about 3 MB (sorry). like i said, they aren't perfect, but a couple aren't too bad, and the text on the battery is readable.
they are kinda interesting though. :)
p.s. love your name. one of my favorite record labels since bombscare... :)

we replaced it, believe it or not. the tech manager popped it back together and said it was now replaceable. the poor little ipod even tried to start itself back up, over and over again, but the HD was toast. the "folder with the exclamation point" icon appeared over and over again after the apple logo on start up.
