4 Port Firewire

I have a new (3g) version iPod and a laptop that has a 4 pin firewire port. Is there any way I can "inject" power into this. The reason I am asking is because it is a pain in butt to sync your iPod and then have to charge it for another hour. Thanks in advance. :)

Not unless you have a firewire card that has an external power adaptor.

Yup, the missing two pins are where the power comes from. I suppose you could get crafty with some wire, a soldering iron, and some spare parts... could make a gizmo that'll let you plug into both the power outlet and your laptop's 4-pin port. I'm not gonna go into all that, tho,

yes you can in a number of ways...

try this
http://store.sik.com/merchant.mv?Session_ID=3F2858FA000A74EF0000D619000 00000&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SS&Product_Code=S02-FJ6&Category_Code=FireJuice

actually you want this one...

if you have a 3g ipod you'll need a firewire to dock connector converter too from here...

http://www.sendstation.com/

i think they'll have a new version of this cable for 3g ipods so you wont have to get the sendstation converter (which is useful for other reasons however)

or just get a cheap Powered firewire hub...connect laptop to powered hub, and ipod to hub and you'll be all set

don't know why everyone is saying you cant inject power...YOU CAN!
