Questiona about loading a new iPod from an old one..

I'm taking my iPod to the Apple store this evening in order to see if they can fix my skipping problem.

There is a good chance they will swap it out for a new one.

can I just drop the iPod_control folder from my old iPod onto the new one and go? or will I need to load it again via re-creating the playlists and reloading with MMJB?

No, you should be able to just copy over the ipod_control folder. It'll take a while what w/all the tunes you have on there, but that's all you need to do.

Thanks Adam.. but it turns I didn't get my new iPod (frown)...

They have 10 30 gig iPods for sale.. but don't have ONE for service.. and since they can't order me one and have it here in time for me to get it before I go on vacation, I have to limp along with my damaged iPod while on vacation.

I guess it's good info though.. since I did have to reformat my current HD for "testing" reasons...and yes.. it still skips!

I can't really complain too much. They are willing to replace/repair my iPod.. There's just not enough time before I have to leave and I'm not willing to go on vacation without my tunes!

I agree. I went to the Apple store yesterday and they ordered me another 30gb cuz mine is having hold button issues. (The hold button is off but is still "on." And today it froze!) Luckily mine will be in the store in a week and I don't go on vacation until the weekend of that week. Whew. It's not TOO bad to resyn anyways :)
