As some of you may have read, I converted 1400 mp3s@192k to mp4s@128k. It took 48 hours and basically rendered my computer useless during that time. The converter codec crashed multiple times, and since I wasn't at the computer during a couple of those crashes, I lost several hours of processing time.

In the end, I was hoping to gain 10gb on my ipod.

I got 3.5.

So, sort of a lot of labor for not a lot of fruit, but still, 3 gigs is 3 gigs. Heck I can remember when my entire collection was 2 gigs.

Oh, and the sound difference between the originals and the smaller mp4s is pretty negligible as far as this mild audio enthusiast is concerned, especially while listening through the very forgiving Sony EX71s while on the streets of NYC.
