um...............what?
# 13 Re: Do you love your IPOD?
OK. I'll agree with some others that "love" is a strong word for an electronic device. I love music. And the iPod is a very, very cool device that allows me to hear music of exquisite quality at the push of a button in a variety of locations. It brings me great pleasure!

Thank you.

I like the iPod. It's hassle-free and a thoroughly neat piece of kit. I prefer it over any other player (MP3, CD, MD) I've used or tried. The volume is fine for me with a UK iPod.
The EQ is not that intelligent and with 'hot' tracks it distorts if you kick on bass boost. This is mainly to do with source MP3 levels though... I can run a mass normalise and I'm sure everything will be OK but I've never bothered since I hardly ever use EQ on anything I use anyway. Without EQ it never distorts and sounds very good.
I really am puzzled over the apparent anger regarding the volume levels. True, the European models are not giving you 30mw per channel, but it has sufficient current and voltage to power practically any portable headphone to very good volumes. It's also a fact that practically anything you buy in Europe nowadays is limited. My discman has 0.5mw into 16 ohms whereas a non-Euro model would have 5mw! The figure isn't as bad as it looks, but it is pretty quiet. The 'limited' iPod gives you much, much more than 5mw into 16 ohms, which was the benchmark output of most portable gear even before the EN regulations.
I use a Sennheiser PXC250 (300 ohms, yes that's right three hundred ohms, 106db/mw) frequently and although they aren't capable of deafening me they're no problem on the iPod. I get extremely high volume from a 70 ohm phone and even the Audio-Technica ATH-W2002 goes VERY loud on the iPod. I wonder how many of these complaints are 'me-toos'.
As said in another thread, a display remote would be nice to have.

Yeah i agree the sound on the UK iPod is just fine really, i think people just have to pick out the smallest of things because the iPod is just so good.

Love between a man and his iPod is the love which dare not speak its name.
