Battery Life on 3G

Hi - any suggestions to get maximum battery life out of the new 3G Ipod? I'm getting about 6 to 7 hours battery life, Apple claims 8 hours. I've turned off the clicker and backlight. Thanks all.

is it just me or don't electronics always last no where near what the manafacturer claims? I've never run into a problem with my 3g battery yet

But how much time do you get out of your battery? I also don't understand about this "topic off" issue. Can someone help this newbie. Thanks,

If I play the iPod continuosly I'll get about 6-7hours.

However, using it under normal conditions (1-2hours every day, off at night, not in use another day) I get about 4hours.

I have run my iPod for nearly 12 hours one day (it's a G3) but then I was listening to it in a library so had it on the lowest setting possible.

I'm working at the minute and am using the iPod daily, I use it:
40mins on the bus
6hours or so through speakers
40mins on the bus
1hr or so walking the dog

and it still plays, albeit I ready for the battery to die.

Off topic is when you are talking about a subject and then you respond to something else, say during this topic I started to comment on the "off topic" issue - that isn't the same issue as the thread title hence it's off topic.
