Backlight question
I would like to have full manual control of the backlight on my ipod, and im just wondering if its possible.
I want to be able to turn on and off the light as i wish. So i try putting it to off and then using the "hold the menu button" meathod to turn on the backlight... but the light turns off after like 10 seconds...
So i tried setting the backlight timer default to Always ON
which works for the most part... but if i turn off the light, then press next track or something... it turns back on and stays on...
is there a way to disable the "button press=turn on backlight" feature?
or any other way to get full manual control over the backlight?

Leave the backlight set to always off, then you can turn it on and off in the main menu.

Yeah, but if i do it that way, the backlight still turns off after 10 seconds or so...

Yeah, I just tried it. That's sort of silly - I would have expected it to stay on this way.

The following works for me:
Set backlight timer to "Always On"
Use iPod as normal, backlight will always stay on.
To turn off, touch and hold the menu button for 2-3 seconds.
Backlight will stay off.
To turn on, touch and hold the menu button for 2-3 seconds.
Backlight will stay on.

I do it like that, and there's only one little thing that's bad about it: If you press pause on your remote (e.g. because you wanna talk to somebody) and the ipod falls asleep before you start playing music again, the backlight will turn on when you press play. And if its in your pocket or a closed case, you won't see it, so it'll drain the battery... but I use it nevertheless...
