ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPR-Sony_NW_MS70D~RD-103928598148
a review of the sony NW-MS70D. Personally when I tried it in the shop, I couldn't understand how it was upposed to work. Do you think the guy is paid by sony?
"If you?ve even considered buying Apple?s iPod- a machine with mediocre sound quality, bulky form, ugly style that Versace would condemn, and an irreplaceable battery that will die in less than two years, Sony?s NW-MS70D will make you wonder what the hell you were ever thinking. "
funny :D
hopefully I already bought my iPod.

the ridiculously biased reviewer is overlooking a bunch of problems:
a) 256 megs storage space. Spending 230 quid on something that can hold a few albums... ridiculous. Upgrading even another 64 megs costs 50 quid!
b) although it may transfer music quickly it takes over 15 mins just to 'convert' 3 albums.
c) the software is sooo dodgy and continously crashes
d) (drm) the reviewer didnt tell you the main problem did he? it is my understanding that the music you download is checked on some sort of sony website to prevent piracy. that song you cant find anywhere that you downloaded off kazaa,,, no can do.
The ipod is clearly a much better product, and although i cannot say that the walkman doesn't look #### cool, the ipod is not exactly an ugly duckling.

No doubt lol. How he could have said that about a company whos held onto the (truly rubbish) MD for so long without being paid i dont know.

all these "ipod killers" with no satisfying results...personally i dunt see (or shall i say "hear") anything mediocre when it comes to the sound quality of my ipod..especially when i rip using EAC...maybe i'm gettin blind at a real eary age, buy i really can't see anything "bulky" about my ipod..feels pretty smooth and flat to me...you kno i really will never understand how stupid a person could be to pay 300 dollars for a device that can only hold 256mb with lil "sticks" going in and out to play more music...and dunt get me started on how much these "memory sticks" by sony cost...but then sony is always ripping off their customers due to their letters S.O.N.Y. on each lil device...and i will never touch a music managing software that comes with a sony device after my experience with the mp3 clip player thing...and face it..sony sucks RIAA's di**
gotta agree that the ipod is so much better for the same 300 bucks...can't say the sony player looks cool except for the silver ...dunno looks more like a mini dildo with a giant battery sack...(very expensive mini dildo with a giant battery pack if i may)

I think it looks like one of those Wagner Power Painters.
I've used memory sticks in a sony laptop. while they are small, i've had more die on me and lose data than I want to admit.
I'll stick with my aged, bruised but trusty iPod anyday.

"By the way this is the first portable audio device I would recommend for women. Everything else is just too ugly and disproportional."

It looks kind of like a DV-Cam...Seems like it would be hard to use.
Bulky? It's the smallest MP3 player on the market for its storage amount! That's crazy; I wouldn't be surprised if that guy does work for Sony
# 7 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
well I checked the other reviews he did and he does seems to be biased towards sony in general. hope sony pays him well :p
# 8 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
It's unbelievably obvious they're doing a "Microsoft".
# 9 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Oh wow...the reviewer has absolutely no idea as to what he's talking about.
# 10 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Mind you I've read plenty of biased iPod reviews too with lots of misinformation about competitors products. ;)
But yes this doesn't sell to me either, ATRAC yuck!
I already have a 256MB Smartmedia player with 14hrs on an AA battery, 95db SN ratio and light/small enough that *I* don't notice it. :D
But an iPod with 33 hour battery I won't say no to.

Forget Sony audio equipment and memory sticks in general. Cool designs, but too proprietary, and they build the RIAA police into every product. Well, I can understand their decision to prevent piracy, since they have a record label division. But they should also understand my decision not to give a sh** about that and to go buy a product that doesn't police my every move, since such products happen to be available from other manufacturers, and they happen to be better.
# 12 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
hohoho.
well i guess that the guy is a misguided fool at best.
Sony are not good. never will be.
The RIAA thing it atrocious as well .
# 13 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
256 MB!! Ok, that's kinda cool - but not as cool as carrying round your entire CD collection + about 20 hours of comedy stuff + all the bootlegs you have + any number of rare live tracks, B-sides, ect etc etc etc etc.
And it all sounds pretty darned good to me!
256 MB. I blow my nose on your 256 MB and throw it back in your face.
# 14 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Actually, thinking about it, I have all the stuff listed in my last post on my iPod - and I still have 5 GB to spare.
Which is over 19x the storage space of this so called 'iPod killer'. Thats 19x!!!!!! That I don't even use!!!!
Let's do the money math here. I've seen this online for $285. For 256 MB. So, their 15 GB model would come in at around $16,699 (if you're just comparing storage).
I'll keep my iPod thank you.

Someone should drop him an email, give him a link to this thread :) im sure he'd love to see how much we appreciate his non-biased opinions on MP3 players.

what an a**hole...
Liked the comment about the dildo, and the quote about it eing the first mp3 player for women ;)
# 19 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Let's see, 200+MB versus 10GB at close to $300? The author must have failed miserably in his math classes. Even a 6th grader can determine the bigger bargain.
Sorry, but Sony can have those flash memory sticks. I'll stick with my "bulky" 10 gig Pod--until I can afford a "bulkier" 30 gig monster, that is.http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/newreply.php?s=&action=newreply&threadid=5021#

Click on his name at the top right. then choose the review from the list (its the bottom one - tiny titan or some ####). then at the bottom of that page you can leave a comment. please someone let him know how clueless he is. I did but i think they review em before they posted, so i dunno if it will get through.

This guy is obviously an Apple hater, who hasn't seen the true light!
# 22 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
I actully considered getting the Iriver one before purchaseing my ipod. After franticly trying to find in in the us (audiocubes) I looked at the price, which I was unaware of. All of these supposed ipod killers suck. I mean 500 for ####ing 10 gigs! And for the sony, it should sell for like 85, as should the rest of the dinky mb mp3 players.
# 23 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Dont see the point in the small memory mp3 players, most of them cant even hold as much as a cd and you can buy cd mp3 players for ?40 or around that

# 24 Re: ipod killer (according to the reviewer)
Sony thinks that they are going to make all these waves with their memory sticks and that similar technology. I hate to say it but they aren't! There is just no comparison between that product and the iPod. I'm a big fan of Sony products but never for an MP3 player!
I have a friend who mocks me for spending $500 on my iPod but it's the best money I've ever spent and well worth it. I would never give up my 30 gigs for anything less.
