Defective iPod experience

Finally they made a subforum for what I went through. My iPod had a defective HD (still waiting for the new one to arrive!), so there was no way that this was related to the PC or Mac. Hope this helps anyone that has this. Here begins the story:

Got iPod for birthday. Plugged in dock to iBook, docked iPod, made :) bleep-bleep. iTunes launches. Name iPod in wizard that comes up, select options that I like, begin transfer of songs. Here is the scary part:

iPod begins making  buzzing and clicking with the hard drive.  doesn't stop! Had to force-reboot both iBook and iPod. Tried again, same ting. Did it a third time, rebooted into scandisk mode. Let it run. It rebooted into scandisk mode (again), and again, and again, so long as it was connected.

Next day, took it back to Apple Store SoHo. Refund, ordered new one there.

Hope that nobody has to undergo what happened to me, but if u get something like this, this is what will happen. BTW, its a defective HD.

Well my defective iPod was not as serious as yours, but my backlight didn't work...
