Do you think that these artists (50 Cent, Mary J Blige, Jennifer Lopez) really love their Ipod and put them in their videos, or is this a clever marketing scheme by apple to capture the younger urban demographic? I think apple pays a pretty penny for the exposure. I also remember Jennifer Lopez pimping out a colorful Imac in one of her earlier videos when they first came out. It's a smart move by apple if it is.

I'm not sure Apple goes to those people themselves. In many cases, the artist/production people go to the company, according to an Apple article about their product placements a few years ago.

I dunno - apple products seem too omnipresent in tv shows (buffy et al) all the hip people have iBooks and powerbooks prominently displayed on their desks.

I onviously notice this cuz I have also have an iBook prominently displayed on my desk - where are the cameras?;)

Is this the reason why computers never crash on TV and in the movies. Cos they are using hip-looking and reliable macs?:D

I have zero doubts that the Apple Marketing machine spends a bucketfull of change every year on this type of advertising. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple spends more on advertisements than Intel.

I think Apple products are just part of the entertainment industry. I cater on film/television locations + backstage at concerts & there isn't a day that goes by that I don't see an Apple computer (usually iBooks, but more recently, a lot of PowerBooks *drool*). I think that those in "the industry" would naturally have iPods as well. Just makes sense. As my sister says, "Macs are for the more intellectual & artistic crowd". I think that kinda sums it up!

(BTW, before I get slammed by PC users, this wasn't a bash against PC's, only an observation of the entertainment industry & it's ubiquitous Apple use with a goofy sibling comment thrown in for spice.)
