When will G4 come out?
*edit* if you have no idea could you tell me how long it took for apple to make g3 from g2.

I know nobody has a date.. but about what time of the year do you think it will be out? (eg. 2004 Q1)... I am going to get an ipod... but don't know if I should get one now or wait till g4.:D

I would think the G4s won't be out for a year or so. And they probably won't be a total revision, kinda like the G3s are. G1 to G2 was just a capacity increase and a few minor additions (scroll wheel, firewire port cover). G2 to G3 was a pretty substantial change. So I assume G3 to G4 won't be as dramatic as the G2 to G3 was.You'd be crazy to wait for the G4s. Just buy a G3 now.
and torchedlh, are you thinking of Apple's computer chip, the G4? "G" stand for "Generation" here.

Ya i was told by a friend that works at apple to wait until fall or christmas to buy an ipod, he told me they will probably be 15, 30, and 40 gigs.Ipodforlife at 2007-11-15 14:21:16 >

Nope. I asked a guy at my Apple store, and he wouldn't say much but said around spring-summer '04.

The 10 GB model came out months after a suitable 10 GB drive was available.Gen 2 came out soon after as a by-product of the launch of a PC iPod, and through the availability of a 20 GB drive. The touchwheel just kept the form factor small enough and saved on assembly costs.
Gen 3 came out when a 30 GB drive became available.
Gen 4 (if there is one) will come out only when there's a suitable hard drive. Unless Apple's attention has been deflected to a PDA, a phone, or some other device. But not this year.

well I have heard from a few months to a year... but I think I shall get one now. I will get it for by b-day aug. 15... so I hope I come back here in a month with good news... not bad news... ps. I love how this web page has so many forums. That way people like me don't get the idea that everybody that has an ipod has a problem with it (like in the official forum)
