While the article focuses on the gaming aspect, it does talk about how it will have stero sound, usb 2, and a screen that can show 3D images. It also quotes saying Sony as saying it will be "the Walkman of the 21st century." Of course the same thing has been said about the iPod.

This player won't be out for a year and a half, probably about the same time the Gen 4 iPod will come out.

even so, i don't think the new player is geared for music playing due to the fact that it uses a proprietary disc and is aimed to compete with the gameboy. how are you going to transfer your mp3s to it if you don't have a dvd writer at least?

also, sony traditionally supports their atrac3 format due to their strong anti-piracy stand (c'mon they're one of the big five record companies) and that would be a pain in the ###...

XBOX is amazing. Sparks9, have you ever played XBOX? How about three XBOXs link together for a massive 12 player game? How about XBOX Live? XBOX is great people just judge it too early before they even play it. I will admit their games need a little work, but they are getting better. I mean, come on, give Microsoft a break with the games, they got into the gaming industry a little over a year ago. Anyways, back to the iPod. Did you know you can rip CDs to your XBOX HDD for listening just like you can with the iPod? Cool, huh? :D
