Keeping iPods battery on its last legs

I've got my iPod hooked up to my car stereo. Everytime I start up my car, the iPod also starts up because the port now has power. I was wondering if there was any adverse effect of letting the battery drain repeatedly. Basically, I don't want to be arsed to shut off the iPod every time, and it should play whenever I need it to because the car will be providing power to it whenever it's running. But the battery will perpetually be on its last legs when the car is on and fully draining every time the car is shut off. Is this inadvisable?

No bad effect that I know of. Your Ipod will actually gain energy while in the car, even while listening to music. It loses very little energy when turned off (especially if you have the hold switch on). Eventually, assuming you drive most every day, your Ipod will reach a full charge. So, everytime you turn on your car, it will gain energy for short time to make up for what it lost the night before and then simply run off the car. This will not hurt your Ipod.
