30GB iPod not working, PLEASE HELP!

I bought a new 30 GB iPod and was sooooo happy. But when I wanted to charge it this came up on my display: http://www.spymac.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=37739&papass=&sort=2&thecat=998
Not a picture of my iPod, but the same symbol is on my screen.
What should I do?

Hmm... That link won't work--what do you see on the screen?

And welcome to the lounge!

Thanks!

I see a folder and a warning sign on the left. I think I could update the software, but I have to charge the Ipod, and that doesnt seem to work...

do you have a 6-pin firewire card? that will charge the ipod as well. this way you can update even on an empty charge. try resetting it. maybe it will charge (through the ac adapter) then. if that doesn?t work, try a reset with the ac adapter plugged in and if it still doesn?t work properly try reformatting it on your computer.

4-pin cards don?t charge the pod. try the other stuff (reformatting isn?t a good idea if your pod is empty and won?t be charged by the firewire card, though. wait until you?re back home to do that).
