Does anyone realize that the case that Apple supplies you with scratches the iPod?

I just spent a day in Central Park with the 'Pod bouncing around my pocket. No sports, mind you, but a little jogging around to catch up with runaway strollers ;-) and the stupid "tag" on the inside of the 3G iPod case caused some scratches right on the top middle of the screen.

Hey Apple - Do some more real life testing with your cases.

That said, I trimmed a PDA screen protector down to size and slapped it on the iPod screen. With the screen protector, the scratches are no longer visible, and further scratches will be avoided. The screen protector I'm using, a Fellowes WriteRight, is glossy so it's not too noticeable on the iPod, and it stays on very well; it'll last for many months without replacement. It won't leave residue when removed, either.

My iPod will remain protected in perpetuity. Maybe I'll spring for a Vaja...

With the supplied Apple case, it's different with each individual case. Some barely leave a mark on the iPod, while others have rough stitching that really scratch it, especially with the tag. Either way, if you use the Apple case, you'll get really fine vertical scratches on the iPod.
