Does iCleaner Work?
I've been looking up info. about this product...
http://www.ipodcleaner.com/
I just need someone to confirm to me that this stuff has actually worked before I go buy some...anyone?
While I'm at it, I might as well post about two other products that I've heard about.
Novus and Brasso. Can anyone confirm whether or not any of these products will be able to help me? I'm planning on buying one and trying it out myself but am not sure which one(s) to get.
Thanks :)

I ordered some up for future use. My iPod doesn't have any scratches yet, so I won't be commenting on it's use for a while.

Micro Surface (http://www.micro-surface.com)
Starting with the most abrasive and going to the "finish" product.
Micro-gloss #5
Micro-gloss
Micro-finish
Depending on the severity of scratches and or hazing, you can probably get by with just the Micro-gloss, skipping #5, and Micro-finish. I ordered all three just for the heck of it. What I originally used it for was the LCD screen on my wife's brand new Canon S-45 digicam. It was one day old and a case I was trying out put some scuff marks on the LCD. I tried Novus plastic polish and that made it worse. After hearing of the Micro-gloss products on brighthand.com (PDA site), I thought it couldn't get any worse. Boy, did I ever underestimate what this stuff could do. I started with the regular Micro-gloss and finished with Micro-finish. Not a scratch/scuff one on the LCD and it looked brand new. Even when tilting it to catch the light differently, the LCD is perfectly smooth with zero hazing. I'm serious about this... It looks brand new!

I bought the iCleaner Pro package right after I purchased my iPod. I have used it several times and am extremely dissapointed with it.
After using it, I think it creates more scratches than it removes, especially the mixture for the front of the iPod.
I plan on trying some other prodcuts, such as Brasso. I would NOT recommend buying iCleaner.

Not good news for me.

If the Micro-gloss stuff works good for the front, what' good for the back metal?
# 7 Re: Does iCleaner Work?
I have used the Novus products extensively for a number of functions (including the final rub out of my wood finishing process). There are 3 products: Novus #2 is a mild, natural (non-chemical) abrasive, and is excellent at removing minor blemishes from plastic (and other materials) . You won't hurt anything using Novus 2. Novus #1 is strictly a clean and shine product and is excellent at those functions on plastic. I use both products and love them. Novus #3 is somewhat more abrasive than #2. Its really for scratch removal and I would use it with some caution. I know that the Novus products and used successfully to remove minor scratches from CDs.
As to Brasso, I would NOT use it. I think it might be too caustic and abrasive.
For metal cleaning, shining and polishing, I like a product called Flitz. Like Novus, it can be purchased over the Net. Its a mind abrasive on metal.
Since my ipod is new I have used neither Novus or Flitz on it, but have used the products extensively enough to trust them.

davewe,
In case you didn't see it, my post above telling about Novus and Micro-gloss products was in reference to Novus #2. It (Novus #2) can't get close to the quality of Micro-gloss. I'd characterize Novus #3 and Micro-gloss #5 about the same level of abrasive content/size. Try the Micro-gloss and you'll throw away your Novus products, I did.
Flitz is great for metal as well as Simichrome polish. I always had people from churches coming into the motorcycle shop I used to work at and purchase Simichrome. They said it was the best product for polishing delicate metals and was reccomended, in many cases, by manufacturers.

thanks
# 10 Re: Does iCleaner Work?
Well, they do actually have a kit available which has small portions of each Micro-surface product (1oz bottles) I listed previously. It does have an additional product that you really don't need; Anti-Static Creme.
Sampler Kit (https://www.micro-surface.com/default.cfm?page_id=90&ID=3MGSAMPL&storeid=1)
Alternatively, you can purchase the larger quantity bottles and know you'll have it around for quite some time.
Liquid Abrasives/Compounds (https://www.micro-surface.com/default.cfm?page_id=96&cat_display=M)
When I called Micro-Surface, they said that I really only needed the following:
Micro-Gloss #5
Micro-Gloss
Micro-Finish
I just went with 8oz bottles of the three things above as it wasn't worth the shipping costs to do anything less. IIRC the shipping was $7 to TX. I'm certainly not going to pay $7 in shipping for a sampler kit or the 4oz bottles, so 8oz it was.

Rubbing a little tooth paste on the screen works wonders. If you have a scratched plastic watch crystal, try it on that first if you are nervous.
Overall, you guys are too much. Get a good case like an iSkin or Glove and put some pda protector on the screen before inserting and you will be fine.
I am doing the saran wrap thing now, and I must say, I may just always keep it wrapped whether in the case or not.

There are five pages dedicated to Scratch removal research over on the old forum - I think everything from milk to caviar has been tried.
You can find it all here ( http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=ipodservice&action=display&num=1035865379)
