Help - Which 10gb would you buy?
What you would buy?
New 3rd Gen 10gb - 290$ (shipped) ..but of coarse doesnt have remote or case. 1yr warranty
New 2nd Gen 10gb - 265 (shipped) with case and remote. 1yr warranty
I don't know id love to have the 3rd gen, just not having case or remote kinda throws me off. What do you guys think?

I'd probably get the new 3rd gen because I'd really like otg playlists. The remote is a pain, and I rarely use the one on my 20Gb. There's enough cord to really hang yourself with if you're not cautious. I haven't seen the case on the newer models, but if it's as worthless as the case on the 2nd gen, you'll wind up buying something better anyhow.

i had the same dilema but my case was between the new 10, 15 and old 20. i ended up going with the new 10 for several reasons. 1) i heard that there were some syncing issues with the 2nd gen. and windows that were fixed with the 3rd gen. 2) i really didnt have a need for the case or remote 3) 10 gigs is plenty for me and 5 more wasnt worth 100 bucks to me. i have almost my whole music collection on my ipod and that only takes up 4 gigs so i have a ton of room to grow.
i have no regrets going the way that i did

-- i would get the 3. gen., even though i?m very happy with my 1. gen. ipod: you can?t go wrong with either choice, but in my book the price difference you mentioned is minor. if the 3. gen is new & from a relieable dealer, i would get the "new" one.

Old. Every time. Two hours more battery life, buttons around the wheel for real one handed operation, looks nicer, feels better in the hand, etc.
But if that's your budget, why not a 20 GB OLD refurb from the Apple store?

They stopped selling the 20GB refurbs for now.

I had the gen 2 Ipod, never used the remote or the case. I would get the gen 3 Ipod...

bought 10gb 3rd gen :). Can't wait to get it. You guys recommend any firewire cards for PC use? I heard the texasinstruments chipsets dont work well. Should i go for a via or belkin instead?
