Ipod Restore - How long does it take?

Hi, I'm a newbie here.

I've just started a system restore on my Ipod 30gb. Can anyone advise on how long this should take?

It's been running for about 90 mins now and doesn't look like anything is happening.

I went to close the programme, but it told me that the full procedure will have to be completed first.

Should there be a blue progress bar whilst formatting the drive in the Ipod? If there should be, there isn't one showing at all yet.

For obvious reasons I don't really want to reboot.

Can anyone advise?
Many thanks.

It normally only takes a couple of minutes.

What are you seeing now on your iPod's display? If it is the flashing "Do Not Disconnect" message, it could very well be done, and you just missed the screen with the progress bar.

try resetting the iPod by holding the play and menu button at the same time. When the iPod restarts at the Apple logo, it should do the restore

Thanks for the help guys.

I tried a reset and now all I'm getting is the Apple logo followed by a warning triangle with a black thing behind it?

It won't boot into the Ipod software at all :-(

Any ideas of the next course of action? If not can anyone recommend a way of contacting Apple support in the UK?

Many thanks

Thanks for all the help.
It seems the initial problem was caused by a faulty firewire card. I've replaced this, tried the Apple reset followed by 'Previous' and 'Next' held down together and I'm back in business....phew!:D
