I'm deciding whether to buy the old 20G iPod or the new 15G iPod, and can't decide...

Is there that much difference between real life usage with the old and new iPods. From reading all the threads, it sounds like there's a significant drop in usable battery life in the new models (several hours). Has anyone's who owned both seen this dramatic drop?

I really like the new version, but the battery life and bugs (most of which now seem to be fixed) are a concern.

I'm planning to re-encode my CDs using EAC and LAME to VBR, do both versions play them equally well?
