Strange sounds from iPod while off?

I just noticed on my 15GB that with it off, it makes strange sounds constantly, kinda like HD access, kinda like a beep/tweet. If I hold it up to my ear it sounds like its playing a video game in there ;) Does anybody elses do this?

hi--had the same prob on my 15gb -- seemed to happen only when it was off and the hold switch was ON. once i upgraded to the new 2.0.1 this disappeared.
give it a go if you haven't yet.

Humm interesting, mine does it with the hold OFF, and I have updated to 2.0.1 but never noticed it till after the update. Kinda a cool party trick but that has to eating up battery life. ;)BBNick at 2007-11-15 14:17:54 >

yeah, the ipod makes some "chirping" electrical noise sounds when the unit is off. this happens when the battery is usually 3 out of 4 bars or less. it disappears when the backlight is on, or the hold switch is on or fully charged.the other thing you may not notice is the noise made when you use the touch sensitive buttons. try grazing your finger over a touch sensitive part and hold it there, the unit should give out the noise continuosly until you remove your finger.
however i sold my ipod (will be buying another one w/ my new powerbook to save $200 in aug/sept) so i don't know if 2.0.1 update solves any of those noises. but just letting you know i experienced the same thing on all 3 15gb iPods i've used.

your iPod could just be possesed. ;) download a bible book from audible and play it! see what happens. :p
