Broken ipod.
My ipod recently died due to water damage (i left it charging on the windowsill, and it rained). At first i thought that there was no way i was gonna shell out another 300 dollars for an ipod after just getting it in march, but now i realize that it really sucks not having an ipod. So now that i have convinced myself to get an ipod, what model should i get? Considering that i never used the case and remote from my last ipod, is it worth getting the $400 dollar ipod? has the new remote configuration and the dock made it a worthy investment? keep in mind that despite 800 songs i never could fill up my last 10gig ipod, so space is not really a problem for me. Thanks for any replies.

The remote of the Gen3 ipod isn't really any different from the Gen2 ipod, and the dock isn't that much of an add-on, unless you want to store your ipod neatly or want to use it to hook up to your sound system. The advantage of the Gen3 is the size , which is considerably smaller than Gen2. If you don't need the smaller size of the Gen3, you can get a refurbished Gen2 for around $200.

If you want a gen 3, then I highly recommend that you do this:
1. buy a 15gb... As technology increases, so will file sizes...
2. If you don't need the case, or remote, sell them on e-bay... it'll be cheaper than buying a 10 gb...

hmmm, generally, as technology advances, compression rates are improved, shouldn't files be smaller?
