Pausing bug found

Not sure if this was in the sticky thread or not (I couldn't find it if it was, apologies if I overlooked it), but I found a bug on my 3g iPod (15 gb). If you push play on an artist, album or whatever, and hit pause before the "transition" animation (when the window "pans" to the left to go to the now playing screen) is finished, the music plays, even though the pause icon is indicated in the upper left hand corner of the iPod screen. I can reproduce this every time. It's sort of annoying, since I like to queue stuff up for my car, then push play when I get in, only to find it's halfway through a song :P Anyone else seen this behavior?

Yes, mine does this too. Annoying, but nearly as bad as the first 3rd generation iPod I got that crashed three times a day.

Anyone else had this happen? I'd like to add it to the confirmed bug list if possible :(

I submitted this as Feedback to Apple last week. I haven't installed the 2.0.1 update yet, so I don't know if this might be fixed. If it isn't fixed there, and it annoys you, please submit feedback.

Well, mine does the same, but it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I don't even see how you did that in the first place, you have to hit play/pause twice really quickly to do it. I had to try about 3 times to even get the result. Really, you shouldn't be in so much of a rush to wait another1/2 second for the screen to show up so you can hit pause again. I wouldn't even call this a bug, I would think this is just how it works. I'm sure that Apple has about a billion other people complaining about too many other flaws to pay attention to something so little as this.

just my 2 cents

I updated the iPod with the 2.0.1 file and it does this bug as you said. It doesn't matter for me because I don't do what you mentioned that often, but just to let you know, it still does it.

There are times where I want to turn on the backlight by holding Menu... so I do... only after 5 seconds it still hasn't turn on, so I let go, press and hold and after 3 seconds it THEN turns on. like it didn't respond before or something...

This happens quite often too.

Yeah... sometimes my menu button doesnt work either... i just press play, and play again (so the song either resumes to play, or resumes to pause), and then the button works...

I'm glad to hear that others have it too!

I get this too. But a simple solution; instead of being such a speedy, careless song chooser, take your time to select the correct song, and let it load. Then press pause after the song has loaded at your leisure.

Slow down, people. Remember its just a little hard drive, so give it a little time.

Ill tell u what is a big issue - when i click on a song to play..and the window is "moving" to the now playing window..it HANGS!. So now I have my screen half of the menu, and half of the now playing. In addition, there is no MUSIC coming out of the ipod..

am really really annoyed with this thing today.
It actually feels very gates influenced! (yeah yeah, i know..no platform comments...but seriously it does...almost feel the blue screen of death around the corner...yech!)
