the first thing that will break...

The first thing that is going to break on ipod (not accessories and not including any port covers) is the headphone port. Mine is getting quite loose on my 2nd gen 10GB.

How much would something like this cost to replace? Should I call apple while I'm still under warrenty (~2 months left) and tell them the port has loosened to the point of being unusuable? I want another year out of my 'pod ####it!

Funny how millions of dollars of researched technology can go to waste on the simplest of problems in a product, mechanics.

I guess it's true that as the number of moving parts goes down, the lower the parts broken.

That happened to my old mp3 player, rendered the poor thing completely unusable. Get a replacement while you still can.

It doesnt matter. Simply fill out the online form to have your ipod replaced. Once you ship it out, wait 3 days and you will have a refurbished ipod in your hands. Oh and the case (front and metal back) are new on the repaired refurbs. I BROKE MINE AND JUST RETURNED IT NO PROBLEM. There was even physical damage.
