ipod + x-ray = bad?

Well long story short, I am going to jury duty

**Stands up proud...FOR AMERICA!!!!

I was wondering if the ipod can be damaged while going through the x-ray machine that they have? I really don't even know if they let me in with the ipod but if they do, will it damage the hard drive?

i doubt it will hurt it...but im not 100% sure. at least the airport xray machines are safe for laptops so im guessing that the ipod wont get hurt.

Things that will and won't hurt and ipod:

Yes:

Water

Volcanoes

High velocity bullet

An X-Ray of an ipod would make a fantastic wallpaper!

No, definately X-Rays will not hurt the iPod.

#5 in "dmt1"'s list :D;)

OT'ish - On my recent trip to the US I was asked to bring some small tins of Heinz Baked Beans over - they were in a bag lyng side by side down one side of my case.
On arrival in the US the security/food police stopped me and asked me what was in the tins - I said baked beans and one of the guys said "Heinz?" - seems like they must be a regular import for ex-pats!!!

Oh, found this in the top secret manual, since somebody brought this up about mmjb...

There was an asterisk by mmjb that I missed:

MMJB*

*Although mmjb won't ruin the ipod per say, it may ruin the user. In a study using white rats, those that used mmjb had a ten times higher rate of seizures, and unexplained uncontrollable spontaneous bouts of diarrhea.

Good thing I use MC9...

And Bob, number five on the list just proves that Apple is paying attention to the lounge...

Access to an X-Ray machine would be an advantage - know anyone who works with them??

I work at a private orthopedic practice. Getting access to the xray is one thing, getting the xray techs to use their film, developer chemicals, and time for a non-medical reason is quite another.

Thanks guys. Tomorrow is the day, so I'll let you know if they do or do not allow me to bring in the ipod. God I hope so I don't want to sit there and wait and wait until my group is brought up.

Hmm... I have my laptop in backpack and they x-ray it. It was x-ray at least 2 times and it still works. No, they didn't ask me what was in the bag either...weird.

You had better belive it - if you can find any tins over there, they sell for an absolute fortune - along with weetabix and marmite!

I wouldn't count on an X ray of an iPod being anything more than just an outline of the case since it's metal.

# 17 Re: ipod + x-ray = bad?
Wickerbill,
X-ray machines as used at airports etc can actually penetrate to different levels of an object - almost like focusing to different depths, so I would imagine that with the correct exposure you could get a decent image. But its convincing the authorities your request is important enough ;)
Bob at 2007-11-15 14:33:25 >
# 18 Re: ipod + x-ray = bad?
Some people were talking about using a medical x-ray machine. Those work by shooting the x-rays through the object and exposing the film located behind it. That wouldn't work and that's what I was referring to.

# 19 Re: ipod + x-ray = bad?
I ran mine through an xray machine a couple of weeks ago and nothing happened.

Well my ipod is dead...thanks guys for the x-ray tip

j/k ;)

Well the ipod was a lifesaver at court today. I sat there and sat there for hours until I became a juror but then was excused because I was not choosen which was a good thing because I don't have to go to court anymore. The case was suppose to be for 5 days and get this, the man is being charged for a crime for sleeping on the streets since he is homeless. I mean were the hell is he going to sleep at the Ritz? Please, instead of wasting the courts time and money help him find a job, room and board if of course the person wants to help himself.

But anyways just for everyone's information you can bring your ipod, small tv, a laptop even a gun to the court...Oh wait scratch the gun, only police officers can carry those things.
