im getting only 6 hours of battery life and 6hrs and 20min with clock disabled. This isnt normal correct? i have alarms and everything turned off. i just play a album over and over from start to finish.

No, it sounds like your battery is on it's way toward failure. You should get at least 10 hours, perhaps more, when using it the way you describe.The hard drive isn't loud at all. I normally don't even hear it.
