Constant high pitch sound?

I've had the new 30GB iPod for a little over a week. And, I love it! Until last night. Is anyone aware of a similar problem to what I describe below? I am about to send it back to Apple for service/exchange, but wanted to check here first.

But, last night, it started emitting a constant, high pitched noise whenever audio is playing. I checked different headphones and stereo cables to make sure it was the iPod itself. I also tried the docking station and using the line out on the dock to make sure it wasn't just the headphone jack. The noise is still there.

The noise is louder in one ear (but, switches sides due to the random channel flipping). If the song is a loud song, it is not very noticeable. But, for quieter songs it is unbearable. The noise is constant unless I pause the song or I forward quickly through songs, making the iPod access the HD.

So, Apple support asked me to format, restore, and resynch music. This actually maded the problem go away. I am monitoring to see if it reoccurs.
