Ipods hit Austria!

Finally after waiting weeks, the ipods finally reach Austria!

My Apple dealer received 3 15gig models (only half what he ordered!) and all the other dealers here got around the same!

:D

first impressions are good! bit disappointed by the quietness (US firmware anyone?)

Only 4 more gig to fill up!

Congratulations on your new iPod, jackbatterypack!

As far as "U.S. firmware", I do not believe there any longer are separate versions of the iPod's firmware for the U.S. vs. Europe. Not for the new Gen3 iPods any way - that distinction only existed for the 1.2.x versions of the firmware, and those versions will not load and run on the new Gen3 iPods.

We have the same firmware for our new iPods as you do, I'm afraid.

ja sehr nett ?sterreicher hier zu treffen...

BTW jackbatterypack have you noticed any bugs yet? Could the delay in their delivery be due to Apple quickly getting rid of clicks and quirky menu stuff before shipping to EU customers? In a nutshell is it working perfectly?

Nope... No bugfixes :( system software is 2.0

This screen is definitely a pale shade of blue though!

I get a click (louder in the left ear) which is a bit offputting, and i would really like to get the unit to play at full volume (without this crappy French volume restriction - anyone solved this one yet)

Otherwise very happy! :p :p :p :p :p :p

Hi guys - for those in Austria on the lookout for iPods - took a walk in Vienna on Sunday and saw the Digitalstore in the 7th district had a stack of 3rd gen iPods in their shop window!

Hi,

I got mine last week and i am very unhappy with the volume restriction. The sound over headphones (i use the Koss Porta Pro) is OK but connecting the device to a home stereo results in unacceptable low signal.

I think there is a policy (DIN, ?NORM) about the signalstrength of a device connected to any AUX-port of a home audio system and Apple should also fulfill this, and not only a french law which has no effect for the users in the rest of europe.

I am asking myself why Apple offers no update or patch for disabling the volume restriction. They would fulfill the law for not selling any device with output level over 100dB and leave the decision to have a higher volume in hands of the consumers. When I buy a car and tune it later, then it is also my problem in case of a crash depending on the tuning, and not the problem of the manufactorer of the car. So Apple should also have no problem with justice if they offer any patch...

Welcome to the forum!

I think the volume restrictions are weird and unforgivable given the horrendous price you are expected to pay here to get an iPod - you pay more to hear less...

Hi my friends! Good to hear from home!

We will get a solution on the low volume, at least I hope so. If we work to gether, we will find something sooner or later.
