Taking care of 3G Remote

Hey guys i was wondering if someone can help me out with a prob. My remote for my ipod is all "stained", it has a ring of discoloration around each button i guess from using it too much, i know it can be easily cleaned with some sort of solution..Does anyone have any recommendations on what i can use to clean it off, something safe and cheap maybe...like a household product..i would surely appreciate any input you guys have....

I don't have any specific recommendations of any cleaner. The problem with any type of liquid cleaner on the remote is that the thing is so small and since the stains are around the buttons, I don't see how you could use any liquid cleaner without potentially getting it down inside the remote by applying it around the buttons.

I suppose if you were very careful and used a Q-Tip or something you might not get any down around the buttons, but I would be paranoid to try it given the close quarters.

Brasso has been know to clear up scratches on the old iPods Lucite front, but I do not know if it would clean up the remote's shiny surface.

Or, maybe if you carefully tried applying rubbing alcohol or lighter fluid with a Q-Tip that had been squeezed out to remove excess liquid? At least that would evaporate quickly if it were to get down around the buttons.

Fortunately, I have not had this problem with my 30 GB's remote yet - and, I didn't have a remote with my old Gen1 10 GB iPod.
