Belkin Charger
Ok, i've heard that charging your Ipod too often can cause battery problems. This causes me to hesitate to use the easiest in car solution: the belkin charger with the line out port. When you plug in the Ipod so you can use the line out on the charger, you're charging the Ipod...
Are my concerns merited or do I not need to worry about using this option?

Good point regarding the battery life. I am looking at an install in my car using the Dock and this is a valid concern.
If the iPod internal battery is charged too often (as would be the case with a Dock install), is this detremental to the iPod's internal battery? My car lighter (which I'm assuming would be my power source) stays on when the car is shut off, ths too concerns me.
Or I could just opt for NO POWER SOURCE and just charge it thru the Belkin charger as needed thru the ashtray plug. Just would need a very clean mount or hidden mount and run the Blitzsafe aux input wiring.
Problem would be the Line in... (without the Belkin charger or the Dock utilized in the install, how would I line in??)
Still searching for best possible solution... Comments appreciated..

Thanks. I think that they answered my questions regarding both battery life in iPod (its stops charging when full), and car battery (power drained seems minimal but may be able to be fixed regardless using an unswithced outlet < adapter may be needed>)
I did also find a fellow BMW 3-series owner. Trying to get some more info from him, any others 3-series owners out there??

Thanks for the info Kloh! That answers my primary concern. As I was reading about all the charging that is gonna be going on while my iPod is plugged in, I began to wonder if it will hurt the battery in the iPod to get charged every time i'm in the car (more than 5 times a day) Could this frequent charging cause issues? I don't see why this would be an problem, but I know the older ipods had battery life issues...
(btw i have a 3rd gen 30gb)
Thanks for the help!

From what I've read (and granted, it's not a lot on the subject), the 3G iPods use a lithium battery, so "memory effect" is supposedly not an issue they have.

The "memory effect," if it is in fact occuring with the G3s, shoudl only cause concern if you are going to beu sing the ipod, nuplugged for an extended period fo time. if this IS a concern of yours, then the safest bet to maintaining long life, is letting the battery discharge before charging. I know this can be annoying and hopefully, as the last poster said the G3s are equipped with non-memory Lithium batteries.
