Custom iPod car holder:ProClip looks good!

I just bought one of these and they are pretty good. They fit exactly as you slide the iPod into place. I did not buy the bracket but just the holder, but you may want to do the bracket thing as well. kinda expensive, but works and looks nice. Here is the link but the main page is www.proclipusa.com (does not seem to work well with Safari BTW).

I have been considering the ProClip, and the bracket for my car looks good. I corresponded with the website with some questions, and was told The Holder is made of ABS plastic. It slides into the holder from the top. It has grroves in the side walls that fits with the thickness of the iPod. I does not make scratches. The grooves stops at the bottom of the holder and the corners of the iPod stops there. The iPod will not bounce out of the holder.
Does that line up with your expeiences as well?

Yes, it does so far. I have been using the ProClip for my Treo300 for about a year now and it does not seem to be scratched from sliding it on the ProClip. I was a bit paranoid with the iPod on scratches (shame that I could not slide it on there with the iSkin in place!). I was planning to use a Dremel on the grooves just to make sure it was smooth, but I received the ProClip in very good shape (smooth that is). I just drove with it today for about 6 hours in the holder. Although the roads weren't very bumpy, the iPod is definitely secure in that holder! It will not bounce.

Do you have a 3rd gen ipod? I looked on the site but didn't see them mentioning anywhere which generation ipod their holders fit.

I bought it ($74 total) and it works great. The problem? Im waiting for Griffin to release the iTrip so I can use the **** thing in my car. Other than that, I've tested it and love it. I think ProClip is a good company.

Will a dock connector fit with the iPod sitting in the ProClip? I just want to make sure my Belkin car charger/audio out will fit. It looks that way, but I just wanted to make sure.

Although expensive, it looks like the *perfect* in-car mount; I was never big on any of those cell-phone holders because they were just too big and bulky.

I use the Belkin auto charger/audio out all the time. Fits fine.
