Xpload head unit
Before purchasing my ipod my in car mp3 solution was sony cdchanger that reads mp3 cd's hooked up to my xpload head. When I got the ipod I wanted to hook it up to the head unit. Sony sell some device that will give you rca, however I got around spending the extra 100 bucks. The head unit has rca's in the back for the "changer". These rca's only work when they get the appropriate signal from another changer cable. So I left the changer cable in, replaced the rca's with a radio shack ground loop icolater (sorry for sp) and hooked up the ipod. I have to make sure the head unit thinks it's playing a cd from the changer and I will hear the ipod. Future upgrade include belkin cable, radio shack holder. I plan on breaking up the wire to get the power cable hooked up to my internal power wire, not ciggarette adapter. Also plan on mounting the plug to the radio shack holder so I can just slide the ipod in and out. Also considering wireless remote. The dash on my celica is some what out of reach. BTW ipod in car sounds great. Hooked up to flip down xpload with 300 watt mtx amp powering 3 10" mtx subs. Stock speakers will be upgraded soon.

the rca's in back of the xpload headunit are for the cd changer. They are only activated if the changer is sending a signal. So if you trick it by keeping the changer midi/or data 8 pin I think cable in and use the rca's for you ipod then yes. So you need a changer to do this...or get the 100 dollar device from crutchfield to do it. If you have a changer you might want to make a switch or buy one so you can go back in forth ipod to cd, I gave up my cd's though. So yes, but you need a changer

I have a sony xpload head unit too, cdx-ca660x it has md/cd changer control but no auxiliary input. I do not have a cd changer and I want to hook my ipod up to my head unit as directly and affordably as possible. I have looked online at stereo places and in chat forums but seem stuck, is the only way to do this the $100 auxiliary adapter at crutchfields. It seems kinda expensive when other stereo's can do it for like $30 bucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated because my local car stereo place was no help, he said there was no way unless I buy a new head unit. I do not plan on doing that. Thanks.

I have the XA-300 aux adaptor that you need. I use to have a Sony head unit in my old truck but got a JVC with a front input in my new truck so I don't need the adaptor any longer.
I'd sell it to you for $50.00 plus shipping. I have the cable that goes from the adaptor to the head unit. You'd need the other cables but that wouldn't run you too much.
PM if you are interested.
