FM Modulator vs. Transmitter
Hi all..
Is there a difference between the Belkin FM transmitter and going to bestbuy or crutchfield and getting a FM MODULATOR? I do understand that the modulator must be installed into the back of the head unit, but will it give me better sound than the belkin? I already have the auto kit from Belkin.
Thanks

im not sure but i used to have a cd changer in my car with a fm modulator. it would work really good in some places but sound terrible in others. it all depends where you live and if you can get a good radio signal. i would personally go another route besides an fm modulator but thats just me.

Yes, there is a difference. FM transmitters like Belkin's are miniature radio stations which broadcast an FM signal that is picked up by your car's antenna. Depending on conditions, results can range from very good to poor. FM modulators connect directly to the antenna input, so the signal is stronger and cleaner.

A good quality FM Modulator is a million times better than the belkin transmitter. I use a powered FM Modulator and it works fine for me. Should cost between $40 and $50 from any auto shop and they come with RCA inputs so you'll need an 1/8" to RCA stereo cable.
