Suggestion
Apple should make it possible for the iPod to show its temp on the LCD screen, to the left of the battery meter. So this way we can tell if it's getting to hot or not. .and also we won't need to use our judgement (by feeling it) to know when to take it back to the retail store. Apple should say, "Well if it gets about x amount of temp, it's running to hot, or you should keep it in a cool area for a while." Internal iPod temp, and outside temp if possbile. :D

That is an interesting idea, though most users are not concerned with the iPod's temp nor want to add clutter to the screen. How about a warning that can come onto the screen if the iPod is in a certain predetermined 'danger zone'?
