album playlist
When you go into a playlist, it should show you the
same options as when you browse your songs.
When I get ne walbums (like 4 at a time) I want to dump
them all into a playlist. When I look for songs,
I want to go the the playlist and pick an album.
Now, I only see a big long list of all the track names
merged together.

Unfortunately, playlists are not meant to be used this way. A playlist is a list of songs, not another subcategory-having browsable interface.
The best way to accomplish what you want is to use the iPod's Browse function to browse by album. If you have as many albums as I have, it could be hard to find your music; so...
As a workaround, what about putting an ! in front of the album's name for your newest stuff, like "!100th Window" or "!Mellow Gold" and so on. That way, the newest albums will always appear at the top of the list (which is sorted alphabetically) when you browse via album on your iPod.
You can then remove the ! at your leisure, whenever you decide that it should be moving off the "new" list.

Yes, I agree. Playlists should have options for Artist, Album and All. Due to the way that I use Smart Playlists in iTunes the fact that the pod only shows a raw list of songs is a real problem. Besides, how hard would it be to add such a function??
