Anything but Music Match
I wish the iPod came with some software other than Music Match. I recieved my new iPod today, and have spent the last 5 hours or so trying to get it to work. It would only transfer about 4 songs to my iPod then quit; telling me it was full. I don't think 4 songs will fill up my 30gb iPod. Finally I gave up and tried Media Center 9, and am happily loading songs to it as I type this. I don't know what is wrong with Music Match, nor do I care. I've never really liked it much as an mp3 player anyhow. I just can not understand why Apple would furnish Windows users with such a horrible peice of software. I would urge them to include something else.

Hear hear!
I believe that they are currently developing iTunes for Windows; let's hope that it will ship with iPods once it's done!

I did use it to transfer my songs but they were all out of order on my Ipod...I d/l'ed Xplay and it delivered all my 2500 MP3z to my Ipod in the exact order...Only thing is it costs $30 which I think is a little high given that all it does is what the Ipod should be able to do already (With the included software)...I'm going to give Ephpod another try as it's free and it says you don't have to have a MacOpener if your Ipod is Windows formatted...Hope so as I've already spent alot of money in the past week on the Ipod, and a case and Transpod...

D/L'ed Ephpod...Got it working...A bunch of stuff I'd never use...
The Weather feature said unavailable data and the News just downloaded a bunch of nothing entries...
I like dealing with the files directly...Don't give a Cr@p about Mp3 tags or playlists...Just plunked down the $30 for Xplay...

Did you try using XPlay?? Its pretty good, heres the link http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/ . Download the trial version, it's fully functional for 30 days I think. I'm sure you can find a crack for it out there somewhere!

I hated MMJB so much that I switched first to ephod then bought a mac to use iTunes. It is great for working with the iPod.

Maybe thats their plan all along! Include lackluster software, and hope they'll switch to a higher-end market (Powerbooks, iBooks, iMacs, etc. etc.)

If you want an All-In-One program that doesn't suck. Check out Media Center. It's the best out there right now.

Ditto the MC9 remarks. You should find it very handy irjason. At this point I even prefer it over iTunes...more robust. Not that I can use iTunes, but from playing with it on my brother's Mac, I prefer MC9 still....
