What I would like
I really don't need a lot of new functions that others are suggesting for the Ipod, because I want it to be as easy to use as it is today. But these things I would like to be improved:
1. A more customizable Equalizer; ability to fine-adjust the eq
2. Better batterylife; screen that turns off to save the battery or/and improved playback (less power demanding) if its possible
3. Recording possibilities
Less important:
4. Crossfading
5. Transfer music back to Itunes
6. Warning sound when battery is low (Saw this in another post, sounds good)

2. I don't think an LCD screen takes any appreciable power; look how long your watch battery lasts for.
6. Alternately, how about inverting the screen display? Black = plug in now?

Your'e propably right with the LCD (maybe only a few minutes battery would be saved).
The good thing with an alert sound is that you know when the battery is low without taking the pod out...

But what if you have a xtremely long playlist (over 20hours) and just want to listen to it and leave it in your pockets. I think it would be good energy save. And i think we would save more if it didn't turn back on when we used the remote.
Even though, who looks at the player for 9-12 hours continuously?

a battery watch's lcd display is hardly comparable to that of the ipod.
1. ipod's screen is bigger
2. ipod's screen uses a backlight almost constantly
3. ipod's screen is always moving, rather than 2 dots blinking

And better quality, the hard drive needs power and sound 2.
