Wishlist: Gapless Playback

The one feature I currently want to see most is gapless playback. When I playback my live albums there is always a little gap/skip in between tracks. Can Apple not just take out that small space? Would it help if the iPod buffered more? I don't know. I just know that I really want to be able to listen to my albums on my iPod just as perfectly as listening to the actual cd.

I've been asking for this since the first iPod (and, in fact, since the first version of iTunes, which also doesn't do it right). To make a long story short: The iPod has a buffer that could be used to provide gapless playback, but it doesn't work. It's a heinous bug, so make sure you let Apple know about it (http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html) so they hear it coming from lots of people.

In the meantime, dull the pain by encoding your seamless albums as joined tracks. The buffer still sucks the donkey and craps out a few times in the middle of the album, but at least it's not after every track.

Well my 5 GB had a faster time in between songs then my new 3 Gen 10 GB. Guys, seriously though, just be a little patient. ;)

yep crossfade of tracks would be a godsend as too many of my albums get chopped by a 1/2 sec gap, there should be no reason not to add it in a firmware update
