Something actually useful
Instead of visualizations, crossfading. and blue button lights, how about waterproofing (or water resist) the ipod?
Also, how about something like ver2.0 for us gen2 ipods, dammit! It's one thing to buy a computer and have it no longer be top-of-the-line in 6 months, but releasing a new ipod only a couple months after releasing the previous one, and then no longer providing the same quality of support for the previous version...it's just a little frustrating. It's not like most of us can throw around $500 (or even $200) whenever we want. Anyone here agree with me? Apple's not really giving me reasons to "switch." given the way they handle their Windows customers (their biggest market).

I really don't think that waterproofing would be necessarily that useful, but I can see that it may be possible. The iPod, essentially, is a two part device: the faceplate and the caseback. The only places where water can seep in is the gap between these two parts, as well as the dock connector, the headphone jack, and the hold switch.
If the dock connector was constantly sealed with the plug, the headphones/remote are always plugged in, and the gap between the chrome part and plastic part completely sealed, then the iPod would essentially be water resistant (splashproof), but probably not able to be totally submerged in water. I have yet to see a single HD based audio player that can do that.

If you're really interested in waterproofing your iPod, you can use this bag:

And some waterproof headphones to boot:

Now you've got me thinking - this would be great for surfing!
