How about a remote display/control panel?

I think a remote display with basic control buttons would be great for the iPod in my car. Maybe it could be something I could mount on the dash or near my car stereo so I can see what is playing etc... Maybe the display could even have different colored covers to allow it to blend in with the dash when not in use. It would allow me to keep my iPod in a safe spot out of sight from would be theives. I have to admint I find it a bit of a hassle to connect and disconnect it all the time. What do you think?

I personally find one of the most important features of my car/iPod setup is that I can connect and disconnect it easily. After having a very well hidden CD wallet containing 200 store-purchased CDs stolen from my car last year, I swore to never again leave anything valuable inside the car. It takes all of 3 seconds to plug in the iPod, so it's a perfect solution.I have a spot in front of my shift lever that I can prop the iPod in and control/read it while driving, which makes things easier. If you don't have such a spot, try looking around for cell phone holders ? many of them will fit an iPod quite nicely, and you can set one up on the dash or something so that you can read it.
