Shure e2c replacement tips?
I'm putting on my flame-######ant jacket for asking such a cheap-skate question, but...
Does anyone know of an alternate source for the 5-pair pack of Foam tips for the shure e2cs? Sorry, but $16.32 shipped seems a little steep for 10 tiny pieces of foam.
EDIT: Lol... the filter is so funny. Consider that "Flame-RESISTant" jacket instead ;)

LOL...methings the filter is a bit touchy. I guess we can't talk about ######ing the spread of cheap headphones or anything like that. :) Resisting is ok, though.
I'm thinking about buying some foam earplugs and punching a hole in them for the tubes. The only issue is that the tubes seems to be glued to the foam tips from Shure. If I can't clean a pair off, I might just see if I can find either vinyl or silicone tubing with the right inside diameter.
I'll report back on progress.

I'm actually considering getting the earmolds for the Shure's...Then I won't have to worry about the foamies any more..

Bob,
Good thing I bookmarked it:).
http://www.westone.com/music/universal.html
Just like dunbar said(by the looks of your post you read those posts too), go to the UM56 molds on that page. It only says they fit the E1's and E5's, but just like my new best friend Dunbar discovered, if you scroll down a ways on that page, at the very end of the UM56 paragraph (Just before the "ER 20" paragraph) you see this blurb:
"Westone also offers custom solutions for vitually any brand of universal or generic in-ear musicians monitors available. Click here to view a comparrison chart of our custom solutions."
If you click on the "click here" (I couldn't get it to point to it directly, hence the circuitous route I'm sending you on) on that page, and scroll down to the Shure E2, you'll be all set--it gives a link for the modified UM56 for the E2's...Let me know if these directions don't get you there. Dunbar as you probably saw recommended the softer RX mold; I'm going to take his word on that and do the same thing, he obviously knows more about it than I do. Was going to PM you this, but I figured someone else might find it useful too...
Took me awhile to find it on the web page too (I was about to PM Dunbar when I stumbled on it). I'm gonna try and get the molds made soon (I was just about to offer you my medium sized foamies if you wanted them, but this is a better way to go if you can find a Westone authorized audiologist in your neck of the woods). They look great--I spoke to my friend the ENT doc yesterday--he thought it would work great--I'm going to get in with his audiologist to get this done as soon as I can get in.

Cheers mate!
Let us know how you get on - maybe send/post a pic of the finished item?

I may have to go down this route - a set of 10 (5 Pairs?) E2 foamies costs ?8.20 from the same place I got the E2's. For some reason the only price I can select for postage is ?3.70 - add VAT @ ?2.08 and it comes to ?13.98(approx $20.97)
I could probably drive into London and pick them up for less - it may be an option. They actually do a fitting service for in-ear monitors for ?40. I wonder if they can do it for the E2?

Ok, check this out...I'm DEFINITELY getting the earmolds...I went to the audiologist today, she looks in my ear, and she about faints--pushing those darned foamies in so far has caused my cerumen (sounds like a bad word, but it's not) into the "second ring" of my inner ear, it's impacted in there, and she can't get it out (and she's a darned good audiologist)--so it's back to my ENT friend for a thorough ear cleaning. So beware the foamies; they may push all the crud in your ear in too far (If you aren't a wax former, you're ok, but I unfortunately make enought wax that the local bees have formed a union and have cited me for unfair labor practices; they simply cannot compete). She seemed to think the earmolds would be better--less chance of jamming ear wax into my brain again. Get my ears cleaned Oct. 15, then it's back to the audiologist for the fitting...
A bit off the topic--I actually know her personally; she was asking me about my ipod, I think I sold her on both an ipod and Emusic--man I really need to start getting paid a commission...

I'd also be interested in finding how much a visit to an audiologist and the custom earpieces cost on average. Do they block out more noise than the foamies? Do they need to be replaced from time to time? What are they made out of? Will they fit the e3c/g's?
