Sennheiser PMX 60 Neckband Headphones

Anyone using the Sennheiser PMX 60 neckband headphones with their iPod?

Haven't actually used the iPod's earbuds yet (problems with my pod - getting it changed to a 20GB) but was wondering if anyone has found these better?

I've found the Sennheisers inparticular because want to use my iPod when running so want the 'phones to stay on my head!

And also they've got a greater frequency response (18 - 21,000 Hz), but the iPod itself only has a frequency response of 20Hz to 20,000Hz so would these headphones make for improved sound?

Another question for anyone who uses their iPod while running or excersing; do you use the supplied carry case or have you bought other products like skins or cases to protect your little beauty?

Cheers.

First of all, unless you're a dog, you probably can't hear > 20,000 Hz anyway. And even if you can, wait five years, then you won't. Claims of frequency response > 20kHz are marketing nonsense, plain and simple.

I've not heard the PMX 60 myself, but the few who have commented on them on www.head-fi.org haven't been especially impressed. However, I've never heard anyone on head-fi who was particularly impressed with any neckband headphone, so YMMV.

Hey jimmie,
Now you couldn't really call me a headphone expert, but i got a pair of pmx 60s and they sound pretty good 2 me. They've got good clarity and better bass than the apple earbuds.

Compared to the ipod earbuds, u gota get a pair of the senns just for sheer comfort alone! I used to use the ipod earbuds and I found that you had to almost ram them half way down your ear canal to get anywhere near descent quality sound, and so a few months use of them and i needed to buy a slightely larger more comfortable pair of headphones... if only to cover up the ugly new hole that the earbuds had bored in my ears! ;)

After an hour or so of getting used to the way they 'sit' on top of your ear i found them really comfy. The plastic band which goes behind your neck and clips on the ears has got quitte a bit of spring in it, so i doubt they'd fall off if you were running with them.

The only criticism I have about them is the fact that they are 'open', so people can quite easily hear what your listening to, especially if you feel the need to turn up the volume if theres heavy traffic or something like that.

I don't think that the slightely larger frequency range will be very noticeable, but i do think that these are much better than the ipod earbuds.

Hope this helps:D

Cheers for replying. That's a good point about them being open. I had a really good pair of cans for my Sony MiniDisc and they were closed so I could turn it up as much as I wanted. Think I'll go for the Senns then, when I've got the cash that is!
