everyone hates the stock ear buds....

but ive been using them the past few days and they are kind of growing on me. They are light weight and considering the size, they stay nicely in your ears and provide relatively good sound, especially the highs. They are definetely a nice alternative to my behind the beck earphones by sony. Especially since the foam pads keep ripping in my backpack at school.

yeah, they're not as bad as some people make out, but haying said that maybe we ignorant lo-fi listeners have just got the next aha moment ahead of us - the first time we try out those new e2's we're hoping to get for christmas maybe...there is always something bette, more expensive just lurking around the corner, but if something is alright for you, then stick with it!!

I don't hate them. I have tried two other sets off more specialist buds and always end up with back with the apple ones. They may not be the very best in all departments but there is nothing at all about them that annoys me.

If they were a tad bit smaller, I'd love them even more.
I, too, have now bought 3 sets of phones for my iPod and will be taking the third back today. So far, the sound is best in the Apple buds. Now if I can just find some "stickier" pads for them to help keep them in my ears...

I like them, too, I've bought Koss the Plug and I think, compared to the apple earphones they're lousy... - well, just my opinion. But I'm not such a bass fan, so perhaps it's because of that... (I even have the equalizer on 'more treble'... =) )jojo

It never mattered to me how they sounded, because I just couldn't get them to fit right.And you don't need to get E888s for a substantial sound upgrade. You can get the Sennheiser MX400 or MX500 for like 15 bucks. Sounds radically better than any other buds I've ever heard. Now, I haven't heard the E888s, I have a hard time imagining that they're really 4x better.

I hate all ear buds. I never opened the stock ipod phones. I just gave them to a friend.Untill I can afford to have professional ear molds made, I'm sticking with externals.
(senn HD25's, 480's or even my old origional 414's.)
on a side note, does anyone know where I can get replacement ear foams for my 414's?

I had my Koss "the plug" earbuds before I bought my iPod and I love them. When I got my iPod, I never even tried the stock version. Maybe I should've.
Though I am a fan of bass, and the Plug sure is comfortable in my ear.

I think they're pretty good for free headphones. [Free if you consider the iPod worth the full price you paid for it- I definitely do.]While it would be nice if you could select from a bunch of phones to ship with your iPod, that would be more trouble than its worth to apple. I think they made a good choice for the standard pair.
