Although I am in Georgia I think I read postings of people in UK having to purchase them through the internet (like ebay). If you type in MDR-EX71SL you'll see whole bunches of postings. Personally i purchased on ebay from this guy (i-shopping4u)...great service and i heard he delivers to UK. I hope meanwhile you find a more "domestic" alternative.
# 2 Re: Sony Earphones
Come on man, ebay has alot of ppl and w/ the right amount of money they could prolly get it shipped to u.. or u may find someone in the UK..OHhh and there r alot of white ones on there right now..

Hi,
I can get white ones in Hong Kong (as many as anyone wants) for 280 HK$ (22.2 GBP).
If you want I can ship them to you and you can deposit the money plus P&P in my UK bank account.
If you want?
Cheers,
Paul

Heh.
buy MDR-D22SL or D66SL and you'll be much more satisfied.

I was lookin @ earbuds but those cans look pretty nice.. if u have some throw in some feedback.. i want to hear what yall think!!

Best set of cans: Grado SR 60's. Ugly as heck, but are audiophile quality, and only $69.00. They are simply fantastic, but are not portable. Sound better than cans three times their price.
Best set of earbuds (affordable): Shure E2's--about $80.00. Remind me very much of my grado's, not as good as the grado's, but are portable.

AWESOME, Thanks for the quick response.. i am lookin into getting a set of e2's u reccomend those over etymotic's er6? i am looking @ both of those.. they r both in my price range.. i found a pair of the etymotics for 120 and a pair of the e2's for 80 so i want to go w/ the better pair.. what do u think ?!

# 8 Re: Sony Earphones
ALLLSO.. i can get a good deal on e1's so e2's or e1's? i thought the e1's were better but they look goofy.. like lil brown boxes..

# 9 Re: Sony Earphones
MANN one last thing.. what about the Grado SR-80's? better than the 60's?

# 10 Re: Sony Earphones
Shure's versus Ety 6's: Not unanimous, but here and at the headphone boards, most (but not all) prefer the Shure E2's. I personally would go with the Shure E2's over the E1's--they are built for activity and specifically for portable units--the E1's are great, but are built for musicians, to be used in a nonactive setting. The E1's were not built specificially for durability. The corners of the E1's have been described as uncomfortable by some. The overall best bud is the Ety 4, but it's 270.00, and is not great for activity--fantastic for sitting in one spot, but you'll get quite a bit of cord noise if you move around with them.
The Grado SR 80's ARE better than the 60's (main difference is a bit more bass), but the catch is you need an amp for them, or they can actually sound worse than the 60's. The 60's, IMHO, are the best set of unamped cans you can get for the ipod, IMHO...They are simply fantastic, and if you don't want to mess around with an amp, get the 60's.

awesome, thanks for all the advice, i know that u can build lil amps outta parts off the internet and an altoids can, it is supposidly fairly nice and works well depending on how well u build it.. But i was gonna go w/ the e2's but if i find a good deal on er-4's i will hook those up.. Thanks again!!

Moving this to the Gear section...

Sounds Good Thanks!
# 14 Re: Sony Earphones
All the headphones above are nice but if you want superb quality and sound I would buy a pair of Sony MDR EX 71SLB.
Unbelievable headphones:rolleyes:

# 15 Re: Sony Earphones
No offense, but the EX's don't even come close to the Shure E2's...They're not even close.

# 16 Re: Sony Earphones
In fact, I think the Sony EX's aren't even as good as the $15 Sennheiser MX400 (or MX500 if you like volume control and blue hardware).
# 17 Re: Sony Earphones
I dunno about the comparison with the Sennheiser...i purchased these Sony's after the MX400 that came with my iriver 550...however shure's are definately much more clearer in quality
# 18 Re: Sony Earphones
Personal preference, I guess, but I find the Sony EX's to be kind of muddy compared to the Senns.
# 19 Re: Sony Earphones
The sonys are a bit muddy, but better than a lot of lower priced and even midrange headphones in my opinion. If you're looking for affordable, they're quite the deal though, I think. Not to mention, they're pretty comfortable. I kind of wish I'd gone a bit higher end though.
To address the actual question though, audiocubes.com is a very reliable source, that's where I bought mine with no problems (very fast shipping to the US from Japan). I'd assume the ship to the UK.

# 20 Re: Sony Earphones
Hmm, well, I think the Senn's are a much better deal. My MX400's ran me $15, including shipping. I think you can buy 3 or 4 of those for the price of the EX71s, and I think they sound better, too.
# 21 Re: Sony Earphones
Thanx evry1 for the replies. Now i need to decide whether i still want 2 get the sonys or another pair!! :p
# 22 Re: Sony Earphones
I just got some white ex71's shipped from www.bluetin.com service was great and they arrived v quickly... I am loving them at the moment. Dunno about other earphones but these seem v good value for money. I'm no audiophile but i do know my music and everything sounds pretty good 2 me

MDR-D66SL
are one of the top 3 headphones for a portable device. Argue all you want. They absolutely rule for isolation, and sound. ay 106dB/mW they can do incredibly loud.

1 out of 3.
Isolation - Surely you're kidding
Sound - clean, good response. lacking backbone but more than making up in quality for the price. nice
Efficiency - 40 ohms and 106db/mw - middle of the pack
# 25 Re: Sony Earphones
Back to topic - do yourself a favour, if you're not working strictly to a budget and want quality, buy the Shure E2c's. They'll be just over double the price of the EX71 (####ed VAT, import duty, stuff), but worth it. I wouldn't wish the EX71 on my worst enemy.

# 26 Re: Sony Earphones
i agree with bunson. I just got a pair of the 71slb and can really notice a differnce. I got them on ebay for $30 US.
# 27 Re: Sony Earphones
In regards to columbo. I tried a pair of the schu earphones and my view is completely opposite to yours. I did not find them that good at all, and certainly not worth double the money of the sonys. Are you sure you put them in your ear properly??
I say this because in a review of the sonys a reviewer said they were rubbish. Then he reposted saying he then inserted them correctly and found them to be superb!!!!

# 28 Re: Sony Earphones
I'd disagree with you there. I have both the EX's and Shure's, I know how to put BOTH types in (Actually the Shure's are more difficult to get in correctly than the Sony's), I have tried them side by side, and the Shure's just blow the EX's away IMHO--it's not even close.

Isolation Yes.
They cup your entire ear, noone can hear you, you cannot hear anyone else. I ride the subway/train in the busiest city in Canada, and i cannot hear the 'hussle and bussle' - enough isolation for me.
106db/mW for a non-earbud headphone is EXCELLENT. The sony earbuds are 102dB/mW. These will go much louder, at lower volume levels. They dont even require an amp either which makes them portable friendly.
Sound after burnt in is awesome. Better than my px 200s.
Maybe if you owned a pair, and stopped reading reviews you'd make a viable claim.
# 30 Re: Sony Earphones
I know nothing about the Shure's but i have a set of the Sony ex71's that I bought before I joined this forum. Anyway, when i first got the Sony's I hated them. The sound was muddy and tinny and frankly they stunk!! We'll I was playing with the EQ trying to get them to sound better (with no luck) and just happend to decide to turn the soundcheck off. It didn't make any difference on that song but on the next song it sounded exactly like I wanted it too. We'll I went back the song I was listining too and shure enough that one sounded great also.
I am not saying these are the greatest earphones but they work fine for what I am looking for now and killing soundcheck made the world of difference.
