Workmen Ship faulty MDR-EX51LP?
I recently bought some Sony MDR-EX51LP @ the Apple Store in Hawaii on my vaction couple weeks back and once i open them the wires seemed odd. The main cord that is black runs all the way up where it splits into 2 (left and right) well the left side is shorter than the right side. I cannot adjust them to make them even, is this normal for these pair of Sony earbuds??
LMK Should i take them back and get some better ones?? Are the 71's better? thanks

It's not a manufacturing defect. It's designed to be like this. Put the left eabud in your ear and then the longer wire for the right earbud is supposed to go behind your neck and into the right ear.

70's and 71's are designed the same way. I think it's kinda goofy myself, I'd rather have each cord the same length, but that's just my preference...

i thought it was a bit strange too, but it's proved to be quite practical, no cords hanging around the front of your head.

I like the setup of the Shure E2's better though--they also come off the back instead of the front, but you can adjust the cord length--gives a better fit, you can snug the cord up nicely.

I have the white 71 phones, and they have the same wacky right cord design. The pro is that when you need to take off the phones for a second, since the right wire goes behind your neck, they will hang there instead of falling off somewhere. The con is that because of the weird cord length and also the high tension of the wire, it's hard to roll up and put in the included case.
