iSaga: 10GB iPod - available, then not, then available!

The last 15 hours have been pretty bizarre. I saw that Apple had some refurbished 10GB iPods (2nd Gen) for sale in the Special Deals section of the Apple Store. As soon as I got home, I launched my browser, credit card at the ready.

And wouldn't you know it. The "Add" button next to the product description was GONE. Aargh! I was stomping around and yelling at the cat and finally called Apple, who confirmed my nightmare - the one model I've been pining after had sold out. I checked the site a few more times last night, but to no avail. The description was right there taunting me, but there was no way to buy the bugger.

I woke up early and decided to check the Web site just one last time before leaving for work. And there it was - the "Add" button - alive! I quickly placed the order and shuttled off to work.

So the gods must have heard my kvetching and taken pity on me

Anyway, if you want one, get to that Special Deals section right away! And be sure to reply with your own purchasing stories!

The same thing happened to me. In fact I could have written your post. You would have thought I was camping out for concert tickets. Next day, I logged on to Apple ... and there was a 10gig Windows iPod. I snagged it quick.

It came in the mail today (The packaging was great) I would never have known it was a refurb. I plugged it into my G4, restored it (updated it) to 1.3. and hfs+ and you know the rest of the story.

Happy day. $169 well spent.
