ipod skipping

hi,
Thursday I bought a 30 gig ipod and after it skipped whether I was jogging or not, I returned it frustrated that this skipless wonder wasn't one.

Now I don't know what I'm going to do about a mac compatible mp3 player. Anyways I was wondering what kinds of skipping experiences ipod users have had for themselves. Did it skip when you jog or work out? If so, were you able to correct it?

I don't think I did anything wrong; I had the same experience with the 2nd gen one I bought and returned also.

Then on epinions I read about a person who not only had the same experience as me but after only 1 week, apple refused to exchange it for her and said they would diagnose it for $50; an apple store "genius" in CA also told her that there were over a dozen people who had been having that same experience.

So is apple just lying to us with great hype or what?
I await the ipod users of this forum to enlighten me.

many thanks
mark

skipping happens, when you were running was it in your hand or in your pocket? also have you considered using a tredmill where the pod could sit on a flat surface while you run.

it was in my hand. if I'm going to pay $500 for an mp3 player, I don't think it should skip at all.

Have you checked your MP3s if they skip? I know it's a stupid question...but I might as well ask. Just checking the obvious...
